Liberal Democrat Town Councillor for Market Deeping Learn more
by Adam Brookes on 3 June, 2015
I was surprised to learn today that Market Deeping’s HSBC branch is set to close in August. Local customers have reported that there has been no consultation. A great many local residents make use of the branch and would be inconvenienced by its closing.
Some will look to leave HSBC due to the importance of having a local branch, but with the Barclays branch having just recently reduced its opening hours, there are concerns about whether we will ultimately be left without a bank.
We are a growing town and good banking facilities are important for residents and businesses alike.
I’ve started a petition calling for HSBC to review their plan to close the Market Deeping branch.

This closure will cause great hardship for many people like myself, a pensioner of 70 years of age, who uses the Bank regularly, and would be greatly inconvenienced having to travel to Bourne or Peterborough to carry out my banking, something should be done about this, with some thought for then older residents of The Deepings.
